GG’s Dream
GG, at eighteen, aged out of foster care in May and is dreaming of household essentials for her new apartment. Fulfilling this dream will help her set up her very first home, a step of independence she is proud of.
GG never had a sense of home or permanence. She struggled deeply and had no dreams for a better future. When she entered foster care, though, things started to change for her. Living in the context of a stable home, she made some big decisions about what she wanted for herself and her life going forward. She got a job and started saving money towards a car. She also got focused at school and set her sights on getting into college. GG is the first in her family to graduate from high school and be enrolled in a four-year university. Not only that, she steps into independence with a car she purchased herself and an apartment of her own.
