Zakkai is dreaming of furnishings for his new apartment. Fulfilling this dream will help him get his apartment settled as he starts a new job in a new city.
Zakkai was eleven when any sense of stability he had crumbled, and he ended up in foster care. The years of transition took their toll on this otherwise fun and joyful young man, and he ended up in a dark place, feeling depressed and without hope. Finding a thread of courage, he reached out for help and began a process of healing, where the future started to glimmer with possibility. The road hasn’t been without obstacles, but Zakkai has done the hard work to get a job, enroll in school, and find housing in a city he has always wanted to live in. He is working to get his associate degree in nursing, a foundation he hopes to build on and one day become a traveling RN who works in anesthesia.
Zakkai has proven that hardships and trials can produce the most remarkable resilience—the strongest souls. With an apartment that feels settled and comfortable, we’ll not only give him a needed sense of home but a launching pad for his dreams. Let’s show Zakkai that we’re in this with him!
