Shelby's Dream
Shelby is dreaming of becoming a national advocate for youth in foster care and needs a laptop to support her current college classes. Fulfilling this dream will provide the reliable technology she needs to complete assignments, stay organized, and fully engage in her studies as she works toward building a stable and impactful future.
After spending time in foster care and aging out at 18, Shelby experienced homelessness before gradually rebuilding stability on her own. Through resilience, determination, and hard work, she has continued moving forward despite the significant challenges she has faced.
Today, Shelby balances multiple jobs while attending college and running her own small cleaning business. She is already deeply involved in foster youth advocacy, volunteering her time and using her lived experience to help improve systems and outcomes for young people aging out of care. Her long-term dream is to become a national advocate, helping foster youth across the country access the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Friends describe Shelby as someone who always shows up—a true cheerleader for the people around her. She consistently encourages others, advocates for those whose voices often go unheard, and works to create positive change in her community.
With the support of our community, Shelby will have the technology she needs to succeed in school and continue growing as a leader and advocate. More importantly, this support will remind her that while she spends so much of her time showing up for others, there are people ready to show up for her as well.
