Romario's Dream
Romario is dreaming of college tuition assistance. Fulfilling this dream will enable him to continue to pursue his master’s degree in education.
Romario has big dreams and the ambition to see them come to fruition. Now, in the second year of his master’s program, he is also engaged in a full-immersion teaching residency at an inner-city school. He is making the most of this opportunity to learn, make a lasting impact in the lives of the youth he works with, and grow as a future advocate and change-maker.
Romario entered the foster care system when he was six years old and aged out at eighteen without guidance or family support. He was faced with a mountain of challenges as he had to learn everything from how to find resources to go to college, to how to budget for daily expenses, to how to care for his mental health, all on his own. In an act of great courage, he left his hometown and moved across the country to pursue his academic dreams. The road hasn’t been easy, but Romario has faced his hardships with hope, drawing on deep resilience and belief in a bright and meaningful future. He dreams of attending law school and pursuing a career as a civil rights attorney, where he hopes to make a real difference for former foster youth like himself. He shared, “I know my goal is by no means easy and the task I have set for myself is far from simple, but I am ambitious to see change and create that change for the generations to come.”
Cost of Dream: $2,000
All dreams are tax deductible.
