Mia’s Dream

$233.00

Mia is dreaming of having assistance paying her car insurance. Fulfilling this dream will help alleviate some of the stress of her monthly financial responsibilities and give her breathing room to get ahead.

Mia was in and out of foster care her whole life, with a significant stay from sixteen to eighteen years old. She aged out and had nowhere to turn. She shared, “Nobody prepared me for the real world, and I had to find out about everything the hard way.” That kind of trauma could have shut her down, but Mia became passionate about using her voice to advocate for former foster youth, investing her time, skills, and resources in the organizations that serve them. She recently graduated with her Associate’s Degree in Arts and will start her degree in social work at a four-year university this month. Mia has dreams of using her voice at the local and national level, through political reform, doing her part to create change in the system she was personally impacted by.

When asked what she wished people knew about her, she said, “I wish people saw the potential I know I have. I have been through a lot, but that does not define me. I am a strong woman. I wake up every day determined to be the best me I can be.” Let’s show Mia that we see her potential and are here to champion her dreams!
