Mecca's Dream

$295.00

Mecca is dreaming of earning her degree in Criminal Justice and is in need of transportation assistance through Uber gift cards and a new pair of prescription glasses. Fulfilling this dream will remove everyday barriers that impact her ability to get to work, attend school, and continue pursuing a career dedicated to serving and protecting her community.

After entering foster care at the age of 12 and aging out at 21, Mecca has been navigating adulthood independently while working hard to build a stable future. One of the greatest challenges she has faced has been accessing safe and reliable transportation. Without a personal vehicle, she often relies on expensive rideshare services, making it difficult to balance the demands of work, school, and everyday responsibilities.

Today, Mecca works full-time while pursuing her college degree and expects to graduate in 2027. She is also an Aspen Institute Fellow and Hilton Fellow, opportunities that have allowed her to travel, learn from child welfare leaders around the world, and explore innovative approaches to improving outcomes for youth with foster care experience. Her long-term goal is to build a career in criminal justice, where she can advocate for young people and help create safer, stronger communities.

Those who know Mecca describe her as determined, supportive, and deeply compassionate. She is passionate about giving back to her community and advocating for foster youth, believing that her own experiences have prepared her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Your support would provide Mecca with reliable transportation and the prescription glasses she needs to continue succeeding in school, at work, and in her advocacy efforts. More importantly, it would be an investment in a resilient young woman who is transforming her lived experience into a career of service, leadership, and lasting impact for future generations.
