Lyleth is dreaming of an electric bike. Fulfilling this dream will allow her to get safely to and from school, work, and her errands.
Lyleth is excited to start college this fall and needs reliable transportation. She currently walks everywhere she needs to go or takes public transit, neither of which feels safe as a small woman walking or riding alone. She aged out at eighteen and is in her first year of independent living, after entering the system as a young teenager. She had a hard time at first, finding a place where she belongs and caring for her mental health, but she is finding resources and is committed to taking positive, healthy steps forward. She shared, “I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming. I never thought I’d make it this far or be this happy.” Lyleth is in the process of discovering what she’s passionate about, but is drawn to the beauty industry, and has dreams of developing a cosmetic line and owning her own business.
With reliable transportation, Lyleth will be empowered to live her life more efficiently, without safety concerns, and with greater freedom to focus on the goals she has for her life. Supporting her with a bike is giving her agency to continue discovering who she is and what she’s meant to do.
