Lizzie's Dream
Lizzie is dreaming of a new bed. Fulfilling this dream will give her the chance to replace her broken bed and have a comfortable place to sleep.
Lizzie spent seven years in the foster care system and aged out, not knowing how to live life on her own. She shared that, in a lot of ways, she had to “learn the hard way.” Those experiences reinforced in her a desire to leave the past behind and create a better future for herself. With her mind set on her goals and a commitment to follow through, no matter the cost, she graduated from high school and is now in college full-time, pursuing a degree in social work. Lizzie already volunteers as a youth advocate and hopes to use her degree to work directly with foster youth.
There were times when she didn’t think she would come this far, but now that she sees her strength, she knows she can make her dreams come true. A new bed will give Lizzie one thing less to fight for as she pursues her goals.
