Kay is dreaming of an iPad for school. Fulfilling this dream will give her the essential tool she needs to stay on top of her clinical hours and get started with her doctoral program.
Kay was placed in foster care when she was a young teenager, and like so many aged-out youth, when she turned eighteen, she was emancipated from the system and left to fend for herself. Kay didn’t have anyone to rely on- no family or community to offer her support. With a purpose-driven spirit and a deep faith, she persevered through the challenges of that time and was accepted to a prestigious four-year university, where she graduated with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She is currently working at a hospital, logging the clinical hours she needs to obtain her certification as a Licensed Independent Social Worker. Her ultimate goal is to get her doctoral degree and start a non-profit, offering the kind of care she wished she had received.
Kay has achieved a remarkable amount of academic success in her young life, and we have the opportunity to come alongside her as she continues to move with purpose towards her dreams.
