Kaitlyn is dreaming of furnishings for her first apartment. Fulfilling this dream will give her the essentials she needs to turn an empty space into a stable, welcoming home as she continues building independence.
Kaitlyn entered foster care at age eight and remained in the system until she aged out at eighteen. Since that time, she has experienced housing insecurity, financial hardship, and personal loss largely on her own. Despite these challenges, she has remained committed to her education and her future, refusing to give up on herself even when circumstances were overwhelming.
She is currently attending college and serving on a foster-focused leadership council, using her lived experience to advocate for foster youth. Kaitlyn’s goal is to become a social worker so she can support young people transitioning out of care. Friends describe her as resilient, caring, and dependable — someone with a big heart who continues to show up for others.
