Johnny is dreaming of a laptop for school. Fulfilling this dream will keep him on track with his associate’s degree and allow him to realize his dream of attending a four-year university.
Johnny was placed in foster care as a teenager and aged out with all of the responsibilities of adult life, without the kind of support that most young adults enjoy. While he’s thankful for the support he’s receiving through transitional care services, he said, “it’s still been overwhelming at times to manage things like rent, work, school, transportation, and health appointments on my own.” Despite these challenges, Johnny is focused and working hard to build a life of stability that he can be proud of. He is currently attending community college and has taken the initiative to apply for scholarships and grants that would enable him to fulfill his dream of studying business administration and international business at a four-year university. One day, Johnny would love to build a business, have a family of his own, and travel the world.
Johnny shared, “I have big goals, and I don’t just dream, I work for them. I’m not afraid to stand out, to be real, and to lead with my energy. I bring a mix of ambition, creativity, and emotional strength that not everyone has. My past made me stronger, and my future motivates me every day.”
