Dream Share is an opportunity for the community to come together to support youth!
Mya is dreaming of becoming a nurse and she needs nursing books, school supplies, a professional uniform, and a stethoscope to help her successfully complete her final semester. She is graduating in February! These essential items would allow her to be prepared for her coursework and clinical experiences as she takes the final steps toward her nursing career.
Mya is passionate about nursing because she wants to “make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during some of their most vulnerable moments.” To her, nursing is about more than medical care—it is about compassion, listening, advocacy, and helping patients feel safe and supported. She hopes to become the kind of nurse that patients and their families can depend on.
After spending six years in foster care, Mya has been navigating life independently since she was 18. Financial hardship, housing instability, and limited resources have made her educational journey challenging, but she has continued to push forward. She recently achieved an important milestone by earning her CNA license and is now working part time as a CNA while continuing her nursing education.
Mya describes herself as outgoing, caring, helpful, and honest. One of her greatest strengths is her determination to keep going no matter what challenges life places in her path. Earning her CNA license is an accomplishment she is especially proud of because it represents the progress she has already made toward her dream of becoming a nurse.
Mya is so close to becoming the nurse she has worked tirelessly to be. With graduation just months away, supporting her with the supplies she needs will help her walk into her final semester prepared and confident. More importantly, donors will be investing in the future nurse Mya is becoming—a compassionate healthcare professional who wants to advocate for patients, offer comfort during difficult moments, and make every person she cares for feel seen, heard, and safe. Her journey has required tremendous perseverance, and now she is ready to turn that perseverance into a career devoted to caring for others.
