Deliyah’s Dream #2
Deliyah is dreaming of becoming a nurse and needs educational books for nursing school, with additional needs including an eye exam and new glasses. At 24, Deliyah is determined to continue her nursing education despite significant financial challenges and setbacks, knowing that completing her degree will bring her closer to a career where she can care for others and serve underserved communities.
Deliyah spent several of her early years in foster care and returned to the system as a teenager. Since becoming independent, she has worked hard to navigate adulthood while managing financial instability and pursuing her education. Despite many obstacles, Deliyah has refused to give up on her education.
She is currently enrolled in nursing school and is working toward her goal of becoming a nurse. After graduation, Deliyah hopes to work in women's and infant services, with an interest in postpartum care, labor and delivery, or fertility care. She also dreams of using her nursing skills to give back by volunteering with refugee centers, community clinics, and organizations serving people who may not otherwise have access to care.
Educational books would provide Deliyah with valuable resources as she continues her nursing coursework and prepares for her future career. She is also in need of an eye exam and prescription glasses. After relying on the same glasses for approximately three years, her glasses recently broke, creating another barrier as she works to succeed in school and employment.
Deliyah is described by her friends as kind, caring, supportive, reliable, and hardworking. She is proud of being accepted into nursing school and, perhaps even more importantly, proud that she refused to give up when she faced academic setbacks. After struggling during her second semester, she worked to earn readmission and is now determined to make the most of her second opportunity.
Deliyah's ultimate hope is to build a stable and meaningful life where she can care for others professionally and personally. She dreams of becoming a nurse, serving communities in need, starting a family, and someday adopting children of her own. With support from Dream Makers, providing the educational and vision resources she needs can help remove some of the barriers standing between Deliyah and the nursing career she has worked so hard to pursue.
Cost of Dream: $527.50
