Alyssa is dreaming of furnishings for her first apartment. Fulfilling this dream will help her create a comfortable, welcoming space where she can rest, gather, and build a sense of stability in a space that finally feels like her own.
After spending 10 years in foster care and aging out at 18, Alyssa has worked hard to rebuild her life from the ground up. With very little to start, she pushed through homelessness and instability, determined to create something better for herself and those around her.
Today, Alyssa is in school full-time pursuing her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. She is the first in her family to graduate from high school, so pursuing a college education is a major step towards a stable future. Through attentive effort, Alyssa has recently been able to move into her first home and has opened the space to her younger sister. They are working hard to support one another while balancing responsibilities, and have never had the margin to furnish their home.
With the support of our community, Alyssa will not only have a place to come home to, but a place that feels like home. Let’s provide this compassionate and hard-working young woman with what she needs to rest, recharge, and continue building the future she’s working so hard to achieve.
