Finding Faith

    • God is Personal: He knows you intimately and wants a relationship with you (Psalm 139:1-4).

    • God is Loving: His love is unconditional and shown through Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).

    • God is Faithful: He keeps His promises and desires the best for you (Deuteronomy 7:9; Lamentations 3:22-23)

    • What is the Bible?

      • The Bible is divided into two main parts:

        • Old Testament: Covers creation, God’s covenant with Israel, and prophecies about the coming Messiah.

        • New Testament: Focuses on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the early church.

    • Translations: Start with a translation that’s easy to read and understand, like the New Living Translation (NLT), New International Version (NIV), or English Standard Version (ESV).

  • Instead of reading the Bible from start to finish, begin with these approachable and foundational books:

    1. Gospel of John (New Testament)

      • Focuses on who Jesus is and why He came to save us.

      • Great starting point for understanding God's love and Jesus' purpose.

    2. Psalms (Old Testament)

      • A collection of prayers and songs that reflect raw human emotions—perfect for when you need comfort, encouragement, or to connect with God.

    3. Proverbs (Old Testament)

      • Offers practical wisdom for daily living, covering topics like relationships, work, and decision-making.

    4. Acts (New Testament)

      • Tells the story of the early church and how followers of Jesus lived out their faith.

        • Start small: Read a chapter or a few verses each day.

        • Choose a time and place where you can focus without distractions—perhaps in the morning or before bed.

        Reflect and Apply

        • Ask Questions:

          • What does this passage say about God?

          • How does this apply to my life?

          • Is there a promise, command, or lesson I can hold onto?

        • Journal: Write down your thoughts, prayers, and what you learn.

    1. Week 1-2: Gospel of John (1 chapter per day)

    2. Week 3: Psalms (start with Psalm 23, Psalm 46, and Psalm 91)

    3. Week 4: Proverbs (1 chapter per day; there are 31 chapters)

    4. Next Steps: Continue with Acts.
