You’re Not Alone: A Message from Michael
Dear Dream Makers Community,
There is a moment in many young people’s lives when everything begins to change at once.
Responsibilities increase. Expectations grow. Decisions suddenly carry weight that did not exist before.
For many of you, that moment arrived earlier than it should have.
You learned independence before most people your age ever had to think about it. You learned to make decisions about housing, education, work, relationships, and survival while many of your peers were still being guided step by step.
That kind of responsibility shapes a person.
Sometimes it builds resilience. Sometimes it brings exhaustion. Often it brings both.
One of the greatest challenges during this season is learning how to navigate resources that were never clearly explained. Many systems expect young people to know where to go, who to ask, and how to advocate for themselves, even when no one has taken the time to show them how.
But hear this clearly.
You do not have to walk forward without guidance.
Scripture reminds us that God does not abandon people in unfamiliar territory. Isaiah declares, “The Lord will guide you always… He will strengthen your frame.” That promise speaks directly to seasons where the path feels uncertain.
Guidance matters.
Sometimes guidance looks like asking questions you once felt hesitant to ask. Sometimes it means reaching out to mentors, advisors, or organizations that exist specifically to help you succeed.
Resources are not signs of weakness. They are tools.
Educational programs, scholarships, housing supports, employment training, mental health services, advocacy networks. These exist because people recognized that young adults leaving systems deserve support while building their future.
Using those resources does not diminish your independence. It strengthens it.
Independence does not mean doing everything alone. It means learning how to build stability with wisdom and support.
Your future deserves preparation.
Every form you complete. Every appointment you attend. Every step you take toward education, employment, and healing builds a foundation that did not always exist before.
You are building a life brick by brick.
Progress may feel slow. Some days may feel overwhelming. But steady movement creates long-term transformation.
You are capable of building more than survival.
You are capable of building stability. Community. Purpose.
And the path ahead remains open.
