A washer and dryer might seem like a simple thing, but for Merissa, it means something so much bigger!
After spending seven years in foster care and aging out at 18, Merissa has navigated the challenges of adulthood without the family support so many of us take for granted. Today, she’s pursuing her education and advocating for homeless youth, using her lived experience to help others facing similar challenges.
As she settles into her very first apartment of her own, this dream fulfilled means more stability, greater independence, and more time to focus on her bachelor’s degree and upcoming master’s program.
As Merissa shared, “You did more than provide me with a washer and dryer. You helped make my new space feel like home and reminded me that there are people who truly care about my future.”
Sometimes, meeting a basic need can make a bigger dream feel within reach. A stable home gives Merissa more room to grow, pursue her education, and continue making a difference for others.
Thank you to our Dream Makers community for helping turn this dream into a meaningful step forward!
